Microsoft Europe denies the platform has hit a brick wall in sales in the run up to its third birthday...
Despite recent reports that suggest a strong change in fortunes for PlayStation 3 at the expense of Xbox 360, Microsoft Europe has today denied that their platform is in a sales quagmire.
Speaking to UK industry mag MCV, Microsoft EMEA's head of strategic marketing David Gosen commented that, "We are incredibly well positioned - our installed base in Europe is well over five million and contrary to what's been reported we are at least, if not more than, three quarters of a million ahead of PS3."
Gosen also recommended that analysts "check their numbers" is they've concluded the Xbox 360 has run into the proverbial brick wall.
Even if the Xbox 360 is around 750,000 units ahead of the PlayStation 3 in the territory, the fact that Sony has nearly caught Microsoft in less than 18 months must be worrying. Europe is considered by both camps to be the key battleground, with the PS3 comprehensively beating the Xbox 360's sales figures in Japan, and Microsoft's console holding its ground stateside.
