Oblivion is a single-player game that takes place in Tamriel's capital province, Cyrodiil. You are given the task of finding the hidden heir to a throne that sits empty, the previous emperor having been killed by an unknown assassin. With no true Emperor, the gates to Oblivion (the equivalent of hell in the world of Tamriel) open, and demons begin to invade Cyrodiil and attack its people and towns. It's up to you to find the lost heir to the throne and unravel the sinister plot that threatens to destroy all of Tamriel.

"Spell Tomes" update coming soon to PC and Xbox 360 versions of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion...


Following a short break, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is set to receive a new update in the near future. Coming to both Xbox 360 and PC, Spell Tomes will introduce hundreds of new spells to discover across Cyrodill, along with many low-level basic spells.

Bethesda has outlined a number of the new spells that form part of the Spell Tomes update:

  • Blink: A low-level invisibility spell to get you out of trouble.

  • Baltham's Insight: a short duration but long range detect life spell.

  • Shield Wall: Fortify Heavy Armor and Shield effect.

  • Night Form: Powerful Invisibility and Fortify Sneak, and take Sun damage, which reduces Magicka cost to cast.

  • Pride of Hirstaang: Fortify Strength, Resist Frost, and Summon a Bear.

  • Orum's Aquatic Escape: Invisibility, Night-Eye, and Water-breathing.

  • Elemental Blast: A powerful offensive spell with: Fire damage, Frost damage, and Shock damage.

  • Magicka Vortex: Absorb Magicka, Weakness to Magic 25% and Stunted Magicka.


The PC update will be available for 99 cents, though a price in Microsoft Points for the Xbox 360 update is yet to be confirmed.

all of you people that say its not working becasue a quest pop up wont come thats not important its a minor script problem all you do is go to the island og near the bravil in niban bay and whenn your there you can get the quest message and the game... [ Read full comment... ]

im having the same problem as every1 elss iv got the knights of the nine and shivering isles but no profit no gate even after literaly 1000 hours in every city every part of the imperial city too im giving up! (even after the upgrade to oblivion 1.2)

I got Shivering Isles for 360,but when I enter the Strange Door,the loading screen comes up,then nothing else. The game doesn't freeze(My xbox is working,and the music is still playing in the background of the loading screen)yet, the area never loads... [ Read full comment... ]

It says that i've downloaded it onto my xbox and oblivion, but when i wait or sleep 24 hours it does not come up with a quest!
