Consoles a thing of the past, as the PS3 is set to become an all-in-one entertainment unit...


SCE President and Playstation creator, Ken Kutaragi recently let slip some more details on the supposedly ānot-in-developmentā PS3 whilst speaking to a Korean magazine.

Kutaragi believes that videogames machines will disappear, and become one entertainment unit if data communications networks capable of transmitting 15MB p/sec are set up. Games, movies and music will then be downloaded from sources straight onto your PS3, essentially becoming set-top boxes and making the console unit a thing of the past. So when can we expect this new-age technology, Kutaragi believes some time after 2005, so thereās life in your PS2 yetā¦

lol it wont happen in 9 years, i take it youve been asleep for quite a while as the rest of the world knows there is a resession going on and people are less likely to buy new stuff as they dont know how long before there place of work shuts down cau... [ Read full comment... ]

this a good thing over 9 yrs it will happen folk wiil soon tire of wii's and the xbox(which is nearly all shooters, fun 4 a while, but ps3 does more in all ways

lol just how does sony expect the ps3 to sell more than the ps2 is a bit dumb considering the ps2 is still selling bucket loads across the world and with 120 more titles expected to hit the ps2 this year is it a real objective to shift over 140 milli... [ Read full comment... ]

not true. mine jumped 50 to 100 and i have had no problems since the update. i just hope that theres patches coming out for trophies soon...
