Seattle based workforce set to lose 40% of its staff following its exit from MMO development...
Following the news yesterday that Sony Online Entertainment had acquired The Matrix Online and the development rights to a DC Comics based MMORPG, the original developer of the two titles, Seattle based Monolith Productions, has today announced that it is to axe 80 jobs.
The cityâs newspaper The Seattle Times, reports that the job cutting is due to Monolithâs exit from MMO development, although 25 of the 80 employees have been offered alternative work at SOEâs offices in Bellevue about two miles away. The cuts will be made over the next two months, although Monolith continues to work on its forthcoming shooter F.E.A.R., which is set to be published by VU Games on PC, and the recently announced Condemned: Criminal Origins.
Weâll have more on Monolithâs future releases shortly...
