Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War is the first real-time strategy game to place players directly in the heart of combat as a heroic general fighting side-by-side with their troops. Players can completely command one of the four mightiest empires of the ancient world as in a traditional RTS, but can also enter the battlefield as one of history's eight greatest heroes, controlling Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Cleopatra and more.

Midway announce they are to publish Stainless Steel Studios’ history bashing RTS...


In what is turning out to be a very busy time, Midway have today announced that they have secured the publishing rights to the Historical Real-Time-Strategy title, Rise & Fall: Civilisations at War, scheduled for a Q4 2005 release on PC.

"Stainless Steel Studios is known for creating revolutionary, real-time strategy games that appeal to a worldwide audience," said David F. Zucker, Ppresident and Chief Executive Officer of Midway. "This relationship and the upcoming launch of Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War will further establish Midway in the premium PC market."

The acquisition of Rise & Fall puts Midway on a potential collision course with Microsoft Games Studiosâ Age of Empires III, which is ironic given that Stainless Steel Studiosâ founder Rick Goodman co-founded Ensemble Studios back in 1997 â“ in fact he was Lead Designer on the first AoE title!

With no release date for AoEIII however, we wait with baited breath at what could be the ultimate historical RTS showdown this winter.
