Xbox Summit 2005 confirms the commitment of Microsoft to Japan...
With the PlayStation Meeting 2005 taking place just days ago it has today been the turn of Microsoft and the Xbox Summit 2005 to take centre stage in the Japanese capital, Tokyo. Rumours had been suggested that the next-gen machine might slip back to a first quarter release in the Far-East territory, but it didnât take long for Peter Moore, Corporate Vice President, Worldwide Marketing and Publishing, Xbox to quash such reports as he confirmed that Xbox 360 would be launching in Europe and Japan at the end of 2005.
Itâs been well documented that Microsoftâs first Xbox console hasnât faired well in Japan, and their hopes of getting a real foothold into the territory with the Xbox 360 has been just as well documented â“ perhaps even more so. With that in mind the Summit has been revolving around various game announcements that are seen as more âJapanese-centricâ, with the hope that it will raise more interest by Japan gamers.
