Microsoft Sets First Year Xbox 360 Sales Target News

Moore tells summit that a target of 10 million sales should be reached within 12 to 16 months of the Xbox 360 launch...
Xbox Corporate Vice-President for Worldwide Marketing and Distribution Peter Moore (donât read all that out in a single breath) has today announced his companyâs first year sales target for the upcoming Xbox 360. Revealing the figure of 10m, Moore said that the target could be reached between the first 12 and 16 months after the next-generation launch at the end of the year commenting, âThat is a target we are looking at that we think we can reach in quite a quick manner."
During his keynote speech at the ELSPA International Games Summit in London, Moore also had to counter claims that the Xbox 360 may follow in the footsteps of SEGAâs Dreamcast system, which was launched before PlayStation2 and was discontinued in early 2001. The failure of the Dreamcast was down to several factors including poor software support, and âan atrophied brandâ, and he reiterated that the same mistakes wonât be repeated with Xbox 360.
