Microsoft Opens Doors To XNA Creators Club News

Microsoft encourages gamers to Dream, Build and Play with the full release of XNA Game Studio Express...
The second stage of Microsoft's campaign to put creativity into the gamers hands began today, with confirmation that the full release of XNA Game Studio Express is available alongside the XNA Creators Club.
Joining up with 'Rolf's Cartoon Club' of the 21st century, wannabe game developers will gain access to thousands of game assets from Microsoft and key supporters such as Turbo Squid Inc., along with white papers, specialised starter kits, samples and technical products, to get you off the ground and started. Subscription to the XNA Creators Club is available via Xbox Live for $49 (£25) for a four-month subscription, or $99 (£50) for an annual subscription.
To celebrate the launch, Microsoft have also confirmed the startup of the "Dream-Play-Build" contest, challenging the home-brew community to showcase their innovation and creativity, with the opportunity for the winner's game to be published on Xbox Live Arcade (just make sure to check out the finer details on the royalties). "Xbox Live Arcade has opened up a wealth of new publishing opportunities for established and independent developers alike, so it made perfect sense to also extend this privilege to hobbyists and amateur programmers," said Greg Canessa, group manager of Xbox Live Arcade at Microsoft. "We have a tremendous opportunity to shine the spotlight on up-and-coming talent through the 'Dream-Build-Play' contest, and we can't wait to share their creativity with our gaming community around the world."
Additionally, XNA Game Studio partner, Garage Games, has launched an open beta for its Torque X platform, a suite of development tools that also includes the Torque Game Builder.
