Microsoft: HD-DVD No "Material Impact" On 360 News

With the final nail about to strike the HD-DVD coffin, Microsoft claims it doesn't really matter...
Amidst the fading ashes of burnt HD-DVD discs sparsely scattered across the globe and extreme fanboy deduction that it somehow sounded the chimes of doom for the Xbox 360, Microsoft has today issued a defiant response to Reuters.
Following intense suggestions that Toshiba is about to throw in the towel in the next-gen DVD bout, Microsoft with a vested interested in HD-DVD, commented:
"We do not believe the recent reports about HD DVD will have any material impact on the Xbox 360 platform or our position in the marketplace," the company said. "We will wait until we hear from Toshiba before announcing any specific plans around the Xbox 360 HD DVD player."
Whether those plans involve a Microsoft Points redeemable voucher for anybody that fell into the HD-DVD pit remains up in the air!
Of course, we all know Bill Gates prophesises an era in which physical storage mediums are considered archaic, downloading every conceivable digital artefact at Terrabit speeds. In the meantime, Microsoft may have to swallow its pride and side with Sony on a 360 Blu-ray player.
