Former Capcom director announces agreement with Microsoft Japan…
Details of a new agreement between Microsoft and the Japanese developer Game Republic today appeared on the net.
Formed last year, Game Republic is headed by Yoshiki Okamoto, whose previous role as a director at Capcom saw him oversee such franchises as Resident Evil and Streetfighter.
News of the agreement between Game Republic and Microsoft came from an update to Okamoto-san online diary, in which he claimed that a provisional agreement had been entered into and that the developer would now look to patent the concept and accompanying titles.
Sadly few other details were discussed, although partnering with such an acclaimed name in Japan will certainly be seen as a strong sign to Microsoft Japan whoâve recently had the misfortune of cancelling Level 5âs promising True Fantasy Live Online.
Naturally the timing of the development suggests that Okamoto-san team will be working on an Xbox2 title, given that the widely held belief is that the format will launch in 2005; weâll have more details soon.
