With only the most minute foothold, Microsoft's desperation in Japan leads to Xbox 360 price drop...
Microsoft has confirmed a price for the Xbox 360 in Japan in a bid to improve the performance of the system in the territory, which has seen Wii and Nintendo DS decimate the competition.
Dropping the price of the Premium system to 34,800 Yen (£149) and the Core to just 27,800 (£119) compared to the 40GB PlayStation 3's 39,980 Yen (£172) and the 25,000 Yen (£107) Wii, the move comes as the Redmond corporation announces a limited edition bundle pack for the console. For 34,800 Yen, Japanese gamers will be able to purchase an Xbox 360 with Forza Motorsport and Viva Pinata...
Despite launching in December 2006, Xbox 360 has continued to follow its older brother into the quagmire of obscurity in Japan, with some suggesting that in the first eighteen months just 400,000 units have been sold across the territory.
