A host of goodies for the hardcore gamer stem from Microsoft's Japanese briefing...
Unfazed by continuous poor performance within Japan, Microsoft's Takashi Sensui Microsoft's General Manager of Home and Entertainment Division took to the stage at the Yebisu Garden Hall to confirm a new wave of support for the Xbox 360 from Japanese developers and publishers.
Confirming yesterdays leaked return of Team Ninja with the development of Ninja Gaiden 2 exclusively on Xbox 360 during 2008, Microsoft offered the surprise of a further Square-Enix title with the confirmation of Infinite Discovery joining The Last Remnant. Developed by Valkrie Profile's Tri-Ace, Infinite Discovery will be an exclusive Xbox 360 offering 10 years worth of ideas from Yoshiharu Gotanda with a real-time game world that changes according to player choices - as Tri-Ace put it, "RPGs will undergo a true evolution".
Hironobu Sakaguchi confirmed that Mistwalker's eagerly awaited Lost Odyssey will be available on December 6th in Japan, followed by a worldwide release during 2008. Although the press release suggests a £29.99 price across the UK upon it's release, TVG expects this is perhaps a slight mistake.
Hardcore gamers were given a treat with the announcement that both Tetsuya Mizuguchi's REZ and Treasure's highly regarded Ikaruga will be arriving on Xbox Live Arcade, two shooters that should surely make the Xbox 360 the only format to own if you're a fan of the genre or indeed a hardcore gamer.
Joining these, Microsoft also demonstrated the latest footage from Q Entertainment's Every Extend Extra Extreme, along with Taito's EXIT, Hudson Entertainment's Omega Five and Warashi's Triggerheart Exelica.
"Gamers around the world can look forward to the greatest holiday lineup in video game history," said Don Mattrick, senior vice president of the Interactive Entertainment Business in the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft Corp. "We continue to evolve our strong relationships with Japan's best and most innovative developers, and we're looking forward to delivering exclusive high-definition titles for consumers worldwide, this year and beyond."
