Microsoft announces publishing support for the Xbox360, yet confirms titles for the current Xbox until 2007...
As fans talk excitedly about colonies and whether or not that is an Ant on Allards T-Shirt, Microsoft today continued to champion the support its gaining from the industry ahead of the Next-Generation.
Unveiling an All-Star line-up of publishers committed to making the jump into the HD-Era on the Xbox360, Microsoft claims that together those listed have sold more than half a billion Xbox titles to date and represent approximately 70% of all current generation console games sold in 2004.
The list which was leaked earlier in the week reads like a Whos Who of the videogames industry, including:
2KGames
Activision Inc.
Atari Inc.
Bandai Co. Ltd.
Bethesda Softworks LLC
Buena Vista Games Inc.
Capcom Co. Ltd.
Codemasters Software Company Ltd.
Eidos Inc.
Electronic Arts Inc.
FromSoftware Inc.
InterServ International
KOEI Co. Ltd.
Konami Corp.
LucasArts
Majesco Entertainment
Midway Games Inc.
Namco Ltd.
Phantagram Co. Ltd.
Rockstar Games
SCi Games Ltd.
SEGA
Tecmo Ltd.
THQ Inc.
TWP Corp.
Ubisoft Entertainment
Vivendi Universal Games Inc.
Webzen Inc.
The heavyweight list naturally joins Microsoft Game Studios, whose stable of developers includes the likes of BioWare Corp, Bizarre Creations, Bungie Studios, Epic Games, FASA Studio, Lionhead Studios, Rare, Game Republic, Mistwalker and Q Entertainment.
Despite the impending release of the Xbox360 (keep an eye out for the tail end of November), Microsoft are keen to stress that gamers can expect an amazing pipeline of titles for the current generation Xbox into 2007, with the promise that this year alone will see more than 200 titles released on the format.
