It's off to sunny Barcelona for us as Microsoft confirms the fifth X0 event...
The X0 events have become a staple part of Microsoft's calendar, an opportunity for them to flash the cash and attempt to impress members of the press and trade with what's coming next.
Although the announcement comes slightly earlier then usual, Microsoft today confirmed the fifth X0 event, taking stage in Barcelona on September 27th and 28th.
Previous events held in such exotic locations as Seville, Nice and Amsterdam, have been the setting for major announcements including the acquisition of Rare and a sneak-peek of first wave 360 titles. Microsoft promises that this year will be no exception, where attendees such as our good selves should "... expect to be blown away with exclusive news announcements and amazing next-generation gaming experiences".
Although it's early days yet, we'd imagine Gears of War to lead the charge, along with a closer look at forthcoming peripherals such as the HD-DVD drive and Xbox Live Vision camera.
Commenting on the announcement, Chris Lewis, regional vice president, Xbox, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), said: "We are really looking forward to X06 in Barcelona and believe this will prove to be an amazing experience for gaming enthusiasts across Europe. We have some exciting announcements to make and even more to show people. X06 will firmly place Xbox 360 as the console of the next generation."
