Microsoft and Epic Games announce Unreal Championship sequel...
Microsoft today confirmed the development of Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict at Epic Games and is scheduled for release in Q4 2004.
A number of new ideas look likely to make an appearance in Unreal 2, including a highly intensive melee combat system, optional third-person perspective and unique character combos. No longer bound to the first-person perspective, players can switch to the third-person mode for lethal melee attacks and defensive combos such as the Reflect move.
Scion Studios are promising that characters in the game will be more mobile and agile, with each character using their own range of jumping, flipping and spinning moves to help players make use of the new environments. In addition unique adrenaline combo-powers supercharge the strength of character attacks and defences, whilst cranking up the speed and mobility to superhuman levels.
The game will offer two new single player experiences; in the Single-Player Campaign, players must fight their way through new cities and arenas as they take on the role of Anubis in his attempt to retake his peopleās Nakhti Rite of Ascension tournament from the machinations of the omnipresent Liandri Corporation. In the Single-Player Tournament, gamers will fight through a ladder system as one of many unlockable characters contained in the game.
In addition Unreal Championship 2 will offer a variety of multiplayer modes, including the chance to fight head-to-head in an eight player tournament over Xbox Live! or System-Link.
Weāll have a closer look soon.
