Former DMA founder signs a deal with Microsoft to bring exclusive titles to the Xbox 360...
In a joint statement, Microsoft and Real Time Worlds have announced that they have a struck a deal that will see exclusive titles from the Scottish developer head to the Xbox 360. Headed by DMA Design (now Rockstar North) founder David Jones, Real Time Worlds includes two other heavyweights sitting at the top: former SCEE Managing Director and founder of Psygnosis Ian Hetherington, and former Nintendo of America Director for development and acquisition Tony Harman, who also executively produced Rareâs Donkey Kong Country on the Super Nintendo.
Making the announcement at the ELSPA International Games Summit in London, Xbox Corporate Vice President, Worldwide Marketing and Publishing Peter Moore said, âWeâre looking forward to working with Real Time Worlds and are thrilled with what theyâre going to be achieving with Xbox 360â¦The company harbours some of the most talented people in the industry, responsible for milestone games such as Grand Theft Auto, Lemmings and Donkey Kong Country. That creative history is now coming to the most powerful games platform on earth, and we canât wait for gamers to experience what this partnership can offer.â
âWeâre delighted to be working with Microsoft,â said David Jones, Creative Director, Real Time Worlds. âIn the short time weâve had to get to know Xbox 360, weâve been blown away by the potential this platform offers and what it means for gamers â“ the exciting hardware means we can harness even more power to create amazing worlds that utilise innovative online components thanks to Xbox® Liveâ¢. The combination of powerful hardware, great software and innovative services has freed us up to concentrate on creating incredibly immersive game worlds and experiences that will define what this next generation means for gamers.â
Exactly what sort of titles we can expect from Real Time Worlds is unclear for the moment, how about an amalgamation of former titles? We look forward to playing as suicidal green haired apes running over pedestrians in a fictitious US city on our Xbox 360 soon...
