RF Online booklet features a sneak peak at one of Codies forthcoming titles...
Following its reacquisition of the Transformers license from Atari last year, and its subsequent deal with Activision to produce a new game based on the robots in disguise, another of toy firm Hasbro's franchises is set to make a future appearance, courtesy of Codemasters.
At the back of an accompanying booklet for MMORPG RF Online is a teaser page for the forthcoming title, called Micro Machines V4, which according to the copy will be "...bringing its own hilarious brand of mini multiplayer madness to PC." Though not mentioned, it would be surprising if console versions weren't also released.
Originally developed for the 8-bit era over ten years ago, Micro Machines was first published by Codies before responsibilities shifted over to Atari (Infogrames) for the third instalment back in 2002. A four year gap and a return to Codemasters may bring the series back on track (pun intended), though exact details of the game, including official confirmation, is yet to be made by the UK publisher.
We'll have more news shortly...
[Update] TVG contacted Codemasters for further details on Micro Machines V4, and in a statement a spokesperson confirmed that the game will be released on PlayStation2, PSP, and PC during Summer 2006, and that an official annoucnement will be made towards the end of the week.
