Today Microsoft announced MechAssault 2 due for release over the christmas period...
Microsoft Game Studios today confirmed that āMechAssault2ā is currently in development, and is scheduled to be released just in time for the Holiday season.
Currently in development at Day1 Studios, the sequel to the popular Xbox Live! shooter no longer restricts players to one single BattleMech; instead allowing gamers to take on the role of a fully-fledged human pilot, able to choose from a roster of combat vehicles including Tanks, Vertical TakeOff and Landing Craft (VTOLs), BattleArmour, and naturally BattleMechs.
Selecting the right choice is the key to successfully completing the wide variety of missions featured in the game; whilst Microsoft assure us that the single-player mode has been significantly richer then the original, with a deeper storyline, character interaction and missions delivered on the fly.
BattleArmor, a new and exciting addition, will play a key role in the action. BattleArmor allows gamers to become one of the deadliest weapons in the MechAssault 2 universe. More than just a protective shell, BattleArmor gives the wearer the ability to hijack enemy 'Mechs, climb buildings, tear through infantry squads, and unleash pure devastation on enemy armor. BattleArmor-equipped gamers can even hitch a ride on VTOLs for a quick airborne assault on enemy positions!
However itās not only the single-player mode that has been enhanced, those looking for more Xbox Live! options will certainly be happy. Itās claimed massive battles will be staged, between teams armed to the teeth with Mechs, Tanks, BattleArmour and VTOLs. Online games will never be the same as squads of the powerful BattleArmour are dropped into enemy territory leaving chaos and destruction in their wake as they 'jack enemy 'Mechs and turn defensive systems against their own clan. Xbox Live will give MechAssault 2 players the opportunity to wage war between clans and across planets while still offering popular gameplay modes from the original.
Weāll have a closer look at āMechAssault2ā soon.
