SCEE confirms a May 2006 release for the Gran Turismo team's latest title...

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has today confirmed a May 2006 release period for Tourist Trophy - the Real Riding Simulator, which is currently being developed by Gran Turismo specialists Polyphony Digital for PlayStation2. Development of the game was confirmed by Polyphony at the Tokyo Game Show last Autumn, but today's news means that European gamers will soon be able to enjoy the two-wheel experience in just a matter of months.

Over 180 different bikes from 12 manufacturers will feature in the game, including the likes of Yamaha, Ducati, and Honda. Players will be able to take a two-wheeled trip down memory lane with 25 years of Yamaha bikes from the 1980 RZ250 to the XJR1300 RacingModify as they hurdle down the racing lines of Laguna Seca, Valencia and other famous tracks.

In a similar vein to Gran Turismo, SCEE has also confirmed that Tourist Trophy will feature a number of different modes for one and two players including the Arcade Mode, Tourist Trophy Mode, and the Photo Mode.

If the attention to detail in Tourist Trophy is anything like Polyphony's famous driving sim, then expect a real treat when it reaches our shores in the next few months; one question though - will it have damage modelling?

We'll have more on Tourist Trophy - the Real Riding Simulator shortly...
