Mario Kart Wii Races To Top UK Chart News

The sixth Wii title to feature Mario in the UK sells more than the first week sales of the previous five combined...
Gran Turismo 5: Prologue has been supplanted from the top of the UK software charts this week thanks to sales of Mario Kart Wii. The racer, the first instalment in the long-running series to feature on a Nintendo home console since Mario Kart Double Dash in 2003, went on sale in the UK last Friday.
Revealed by sales tracker, Chart Track, Mario Kart Wii's sales more than matched the combined first week sales of the previous five titles featuring Mario on Wii to date - including the all-conquering Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games and Super Mario Galaxy.
Arguably the most high-profile title to launch last week, and yes we do mean more high-profile that the PC version of Assassin's Creed, Mario Kart Wii also comes packaged with the rather nasty-looking Wii Wheel.
