The new game from the makers of Grand Theft Auto 3. You want to know more...

Rockstar North, all you need to know is that they made 'Grand Theft Auto 3' and 'Vice City'. This is their new game. It is dark, disturbing and very morally dubious, probing the depths of depravity, less 'Scarface' and more of a twisted fusion between 'The Running Man' and 'Clockwork Orange'â¦

We've had teasers before, but these are the first screens and solid details on the game they call ManHunt.

There is an abandoned city. There is one truly messed up character, he calls himself The Director, who puts people who no-one will miss into the city and watches via CCTV as they try to survive for as long as possible. The odds are not good. This ruined urban hellhole is packed full of tough, badass motherf*ckers who like nothing better than murdering people, violently.

The Director is one sick puppy.

You are a convicted murderer, James Earl Cash, plucked from deathrow at the last minute and thrown into The Director's nightmarish playpen.

You know what you have to do.

The Director may be depraved and very masochistic, but he's not stupid; guns are hard to get your hands on. This means, initially at least, a lot of weapons are close combat or improvised, baseball bats, shards of glass, plastic bags over the head. You get to see the killing from The Director's viewpoint - grainy CCTV footage. This should make things seem even more disturbing, leaving your own sick little mind to fill in the details. And keep the censors at bayâ¦

You will get hints and tips from The Director, obviously he enjoys prolonging the carnage. For the most part you will have to survive on your wits, given odds are very much against you using the shadows to take out people quickly and efficiently is how you'll have to play.

We imagine there will be some immense satisfaction when you finally get a sniper rifle and are able to crouch on a rooftop in â“ relative â“ safety, taking out the people who are after you from a distance.

We want to play this, luckily with the game set for release before the end of the year on PlayStation2, courtesy of Rockstar, the wait will not be too painful.

Stick with TVG to keep up to speed with the latest on ManHunt.
