Popular mech shooter series making its handheld debut on the Nintendo DS...
Proving that it's business as usual during the transformation of scaling back its operation as a premium title publisher, Majesco Entertainment today confirmed the development of MechAssault: Phantom War for the Nintendo DS.
"MechAssault: Phantom War fuses the best game play elements from the series with new features that take advantage of the unique mechanics of the Nintendo DS," said Ken Gold, vice president of Marketing for Majesco Entertainment. "The touch screen lets players intuitively 'touch' the cockpit controls to hack into giant 'Mechs, eject pilots, switch weapons and check battle techniques."
The first handheld instalment of the popular mech series, Phantom War is currently in development at Backbone Entertainment and promises to fuse popular aspects from the series whilst taking full advantage of the DS capabilities.
Over 20 different types of vehicles are promised within the game, including Mechs, Tanks, Turrets and BattleArmour, each with an arsenal of upgradeable weapons.
Spanning 24 different single-player missions across four different planets, MechAssault: Phantom War also features support for four-player Wi-Fi with three different multiplayer game types.
