Eidos delay the eagerly awaited return of Lara Croft in Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness until next year…

Eidos today delayed the return of Lara Croft in Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness until February 2003, as many in the industry had suggested the game simply wasnât ready for release before Christmas.

The game has come under a lot of scrutiny, particular because of poor impressions and suggestions that both Eidos and SCEE were unhappy with the product. Hopefully the delay will allow Core to develop the true next-gen title that Lara deserves.

The delay means that Lara will miss out on the lucrative Christmas market, however we believe that a good game will produce better results then simply releasing a below-par title in order to cash-in for Christmas. Eidos have recently been buoyed by the success of the fantastic Hitman 2 and Timesplitters2.

The British publisher also announced that the latest title in the hugely successful Championship Manager series, Championship Manager 4, would also be released in February.
