The second line in the forthcoming Rail Simulator is announced by Kuju...
Kuju has today confirmed that the second railway line in the forthcoming Rail Simulator will be between Oxford and Paddington. The sixty-five miles long route will capture the real-world equivalent thanks to the team's catalogue of over 7000 photos taken at 25 points along the line, together with the recreation of key platforms including Acton, Didcot, and of course, Paddington itself.
In addition to the line, Rail Simulator will also feature the High Speed Train (HST), also known as the Intercity 125, which first arrived on Britain's railway lines in 1976. The engine has been recreated in full 3D along with its carriages with help from rail operator, First Great Western.
Claire Boissiere, Rail Simulator's Game Director, said, "Paddington station is one of the most popular and well recognized UK stations. It contains historic architecture, modern high-speed trains and a life of its own. Elements that are all reflected in Rail Simulator. Taking the route out to Oxford allows us to recreate the famous busy commuter runs in and out of London. In addition to the passenger trains the various freight operations that run along this route will also be included. Rail Simulator will bring the full environment to life and we'll be asking players if they can keep to a timetable.
Rail Simulator will be released in 2006, with distribution in the hands of Electronic Arts.
We'll have more soon...
