Levers and switches 'RailDriver' peripheral signed to support Kuju's forthcoming sim...
Kuju has today confirmed a deal with PI Engineering of Michigan that will see their upcoming railway sim, Rail Simulator, supported by PI's RailDriver peripheral.
With the ability to map control keys to the peripheral's various levers and switches, the move has been made in an attempt to further improve the sense of realism experienced by players of the game.
Richard Rogerson, Studio Head for Kuju's Simulation Studio, "We have long had a high regard for the quality of the RailDriver controller and we know that a lot of Simulation fans are looking forward to hooking it up with Rail Simulator. We've been in discussions with P.I. Engineering for some time now as we all feel that RailDriver(tm) offers rail fans the opportunity of further immersion into the Rail Simulator world."
Dr Michael Hetherington, President of P.I. Engineering, said: "It's clear that Rail Simulator represents the next leap forward for railroad simulation games. From our own work in professional human interface equipment we know that to enhance the simulation experience a realistic control interface is critical and we are delighted to be able to work with Kuju in bringing RailDriver to the widest possible audience."
It seems that the trend of releasing specific peripherals for certain titles (like Guitar Hero) has moved into the more niche areas of gaming - but does PI's device have a pulley to sound the train's whistle?
We'll have more news shortly...
