Konami Unveils Elebits For Wii News

After initial reports from Japan, Konami finally release details on their Nintendo Wii title...

At the end of April, Japanese publication Famitsu reported on a Nintendo Wii title from Konami called Elebits, but thanks to inadequacies of Japanese-English translation, only a scant description of the game remained.

Clarification was made today however with official confirmation from Konami as to what Elebits actually is. Described by the developer/publisher as an action title in a fictitious world, the game sets the scene that the source of power rests with microscopic entities called Elebits rather than the likes of fossil fuels.

Despite a friendly relationship with the human race, Elebits actually turn out to be quite a mischievous lot, which is where the player comes in as it's their job to hunt them down. By using the Wii's controller players will be able to move objects around the gameworld, and also devise a number of strategies in order to capture the little creatures.

"The Wii's innovative controller allows us to explore new game concepts that were not previously possible, and Elebits reflects this new freedom of design with gameplay that is easy for gamers of all ages to enjoy," explained Hans-Joachim Amann, Head of European Product Management for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. "Introducing original gameplay elements, Elebits provides players with unprecedented control over the environment and a new level of freedom in choosing how to best accomplish their goals."

We'll have more on Nintendo Wii shortly...
