Konami Brings Death, Jr To PSP News

Publisher confirms that it will be releasing the highly anticipated PSP game as a Western territories launch title…


Konami have today announced that they are set to release Death, Jr. as one of the launch titles for the PSP. The game follows the exploits of Death, Jr. who accidentally releases an ancient evil from a mysterious box on a school trip to a museum. As Death,Jr. itâs up to players to fight the evil hordes through the corridors of the museum before itâs too late.

Players will find that the protagonist isnât called Death, Jr. for nothing, as his weapon of choice is a scythe, which doubles as a, âunique platforming tool;â other weapons include guns and explosives, which will be made available to the character through the course of the game.

Announcing the release, Hans-Joachim Amann, Head of Product Management of Konami of Europe said, "Death, Jr. is poised to be one of the most groundbreaking launch titles on any platformâ¦Its original character design, innovative concept and visually stunning gameplay make Death Jr. an incredibly compelling game for the new PSP."

The developers of the game, Backbone, also sound very pleased with the news, as Jon Goldman, CEO of Backbone declared that, "We're thrilled to be working with Konamiâ¦Konami's experience with successfully launching new franchise titles is second to none, and we can't imagine a better partner to be working with on Death, Jr."

Backbone President, Andrew Ayre, also said, "It's just amazing how well the Death, Jr. character has been receivedâ¦The excitement from the press and consumers alike has been thrilling."

The game is said to include a sophisticated 3D engine, and make use of a unique particle-effects system so it will interesting to see the game in action. Weâll have more news on Death, Jr. in the coming weeksâ¦
