Konami Announce ISS3 News

Once upon a time this used to be the best football series around...
It wasnât that long ago that another football title from Konami ruled the roost, no weâre not talking about Pro Evolution but International Superstar Soccer, more commonly known as ISS.
The various versions that appeared on the N64 won critical and commercial acclaim and rightly held the top spot; however it wasnât long before Pro Evolution came along and ISS was all but forgotten.
A forgettable sequel on next-generation platforms did little to stir interest last year, as fans waited for the eagerly awaited Pro Evolution Soccer 2; however that hasnât deterred Major A from announcing ISS3, due for release on Playstation2 in March and followed by a GameCube version in May.
Releasing that the ante has been upped, Major A have gone back to the drawing board and implemented a number of new features to differentiate it from Pro Evolution Soccer.
An all-new âClose-Upâ feature flashes an icon when a player nears the penalty area, pressing a shoulder-button seamlessly moves the camera into a close-up view behind the player, granting him more actions and hopefully creating that epic feel which is missing from most football titles.
The new Mission Mode grants players points for victories, which they can use to bet on the outcome of games and multiplayer matches; these are then used to unlock new teams, stadiums, moves and various other goodies. Using the FIFPRO license, over 90 international and club teams are available to choose from, whilst the new graphics engine have allowed the developers to create stunning player likenesses.
Weâll have more information soon, but make sure to check out the first screens taken from the Playstation2 version.
