Kill Zone - Round Up News

It hasn't even been offficially announced as of yet, however the hype is already billing this one as Sony's answer to Halo...
Although SCEE have yet to officially confirm the existence of Kill Zone, rabid internet speculation and gossip has quickly catapulted this to one of 2003 most anticipated Playstation2 releases.
Although there is very little known for definite, itâs widely believed that Kill Zone (previously known as Kin) is an impressive first-person-shooter from the Dutch developer Lost Boys. However recently CVG Online has claimed that the team responsible for Kill Zone, have distanced themselves from Lost Boys and started their own development team going under the moniker of Guerrilla.
Itâs believed that SCEE snapped the title up as a Playstation2 exclusive based on an impressive first showing, where the âHalo Beaterâ tagline seems to have emanated from. Whilst itâs all merely speculation at this stage, itâs believed the game is set in a future at war along similar lines to the story offered in Halo.
Far more credible is the inclusion of a radical new feature known as âKill Zoneâ (hence where the games title came from); this is believed to be the equivalent of the Max Payne âBullet Timeâ effect for first-person-shooters. Already this has got us wound up at the prospect of entering a heightened state of awareness, being able to place pixel-perfect shots and literally dodge bullets; however weâve got to remind ourselves that building up hype usually results in disappointment.
Various screenshots have been supposedly âleakedâ on to the net, the latest that we received today appears to have come from a UK magazine and as you can see looks to be something very special indeed â“ if it proves to be trueâ¦
Other speculation hints that the game will support 16-player deathmatch modes via the Playstation Network Adaptor, along with connectivity to the headset communicator provided with SOCOM: US Navy Seals. Various sources claim that the game is the âbest-lookingâ PS2 title ever created and features a rock-steady 60FPS throughout; naturally weâre waiting for more concrete information before making such allegations.
Weâll do our best to try and wrangle some more information from Sony, whilst theyâre not commenting on the title at present and least theyâve confirmed its existence to usâ¦
