Buena Vista announces plans to support the UMD Movie format, brining the likes of Kill Bill and Pirates of the Caribbean to the format...
Buena Vista became the latest movie studio to throw its weight behind the PSP and UMD Movies, with confirmation that it plans to release five titles this spring including Treasure, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Reign of Fire, Kill Bill Vol 1 and Hero.
The announcement swells the UMD Movie offerings to over 15 and helps to ease fears that the format would never get off the ground; now all that remains is whether consumers will take to the new format.
"Buena Vista Home Entertainment is excited to move forward with our movies on this format. With its crisp picture, ease of use and quick response mechanisms, the PSP(TM) is poised to revolutionize portable entertainment systems throughout the world," said Chapek. "We are confident that the five titles we announced today appeal to the new PSP(TM) consumer."
Weâll have further PSP information soon.
