The man behind the Playstation is promoted within Sony's ranks...
Sony Corporation today confirmed that Ken Kutaragi â“ the man behind the Playstation â“ has been appointed executive deputy president, and will head the parent companyâs new Broadband Network Co, responsible for next-generation entertainment.
Sony fans may remember that TVG predicted a management reshuffle last year; itâs widely believed that this move will allow Kutaragi to head the parent company at a later date.
Kutaragi will still head up the game division and overlook the launch of Playstation3, believed to release in 2005/06. Itâs believed that Kuturagiâs new position will give Sony a better chance of creating the âall-in-oneâ home entertainment set-up that theyâve envisioned since the start; itâs also hoped that the other divisions will make a closer note of the profitable games division, which accounted for 35% of their total revenue in 2002.
