KOEI has announced that Opoona, a turn-based RPG from developers ArtePiazza (of Dragon Quest fame), will be released across Europe on Nintendo's Wii this July 25th. The game was released in the US towards the end of last month.
Taking on all the facets of a traditional, turn-based JRPG, Opoona will utilise the Wii's Nunchuk controller for 'Energy Bonbon' attacks. The trajectory of these attacks is controlled by the Nunchuk, as are all of the other commands in the game, offering what KOEI calls "single-hand control".
"With its imaginatively unique controls and compelling storyline, coupled with the amazing talents of the development team, Opoona offers gamers something very different to explore and enjoy," said Will Curley, Sales Manager at KOEI. "It melds everything that we've come to love about Japanese RPGs with some masterful innovations and a captivating tale that will delight both veteran gamers and newcomers alike."
The game follows the story of a young boy called Opoona, who must find his own path in life after he becomes separated from his family when their spaceship crash lands on Planet Landroll. From here he must find a job, befriend the people he meets, re-unite his family, and defend the planet from the mysterious Dark Rogues.
Fortunately for Opoona, he's a descendant of the heroic Cosmo Guard warriors, which is handy...
