Japanese Hardware Estimates Emerge News

Reports from Japan suggest that Wii is establishing a decent lead over PlayStation3.
Now that both PlayStation3 and Wii have been released in Japan, Xbox 360's dominance in the next-generation in the territory has been overturned faster than dingy in a typhoon. Sales figures for the three systems are yet to be officially released, but Enterbrain (parent company of Japanese publication, Famitsu) has released a breakdown charting the performances of each platform at the end of 2006.
Heading up the trio of systems is Nintendo's Wii, which Enterbrain suggests sold just fewer than 1 million units in the territory with 989,118 units. Second place with half of that amount is PlayStation3, which was released nearly a month earlier, with 466,716 units. PlayStation3 figures are undoubtedly lower than they should have been, given Sony's admission of forwarding units to North America instead. Unsurprisingly, Xbox 360 comes in at third place, having sold 290,467 units after a year on sale - figures that were likely to be been boosted by the release of Blue Dragon.
Enterbrain published their figures on the Japanese Yahoo website.
