Team Ninja head shares his thoughts on the 360 and confirms the major Japanese July announcement...

Team Ninja head-honcho, Tomonobu Itagaki, has recently gone on the record sharing his thoughts and opinions on the Xbox 360 with Famitsu.

Liking the multi-core set-up to the SEGA Saturn, Itagaki-san suggests that a single-core processor is easier to work with but claims that strong middleware support and a good infrastructure bodes well for development on the 360 and should avoid the struggles developers faced when working with the Saturn.

Despite making favourable claims regarding the power of the 360, Itagaki-san was less then supportive of the decision to feature a 9.4GB dual-layer DVD format, claiming that pre-rendered sequences favoured by Japanese developers will be restricted as a result. As an example, Itagaki-san highlighted the High-Def Dead or Alive 4 sequence for E3 which weighed in close to 2GB.

Finally Itagaki-san confirmed that the major Japanese announcement scheduled at some point in July will take place, suggesting that he was undecided as to whether a new Dead or Alive 4 trailer will be available or not.
