Eidos announces Salt Lake 2002 - The official video game of the Olympic Winter Games
Eidos Interactive announces Salt Lake 2002 - The official video game of the
Olympic Winter Games. The game is being developed by Attention To Detail
(ATD) of Warwick, England, and will be available in November on PlayStation 2 and in January 2002 on PC. The Salt Lake 2002 video game is the second product of an exclusive six-year agreement with International Sports Multimedia (ISM) to publish video games under license from the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The game combines six official events, authentic Olympic environments and competitive multi-player modes with stunning graphics and TV-style presentation to create a realistic and challenging gaming experience.
The six official events are Men's Alpine Skiing Downhill, Women's Alpine Skiing Slalom, Men's Two-man Bobsleigh, Women's Freestyle Skiing Aerials, Men's Ski Jumping K120 Individual and Men's Snowboard Parallel Giant Slalom. There are a variety of single and multi-player game modes including Olympic, Classic, Tournament and Freeform. The game also utilises the latest motion capture technology and real time physics for realistic character movement.
Mike McGarvey, CEO of Eidos says: "The Olympic Games is one of the few sports licences that has true worldwide appeal. With such a high profile license and our sales and marketing expertise, we are confident of building upon the success of Sydney 2000 - The official video game of the 2000 Olympic Games."
Chris Gibbs, Managing Director of ATD says: "We are very pleased once again to be working with both the IOC and Eidos on this most prestigious of sporting licences. The success of the Sydney 2000 video game and the experience that we all bring to the development and publishing of this genre of game will all help in a bid to make the Salt Lake 2002 game a great title for the next generation of gaming platforms."
