More mercury madness for PSP owners as Ignition confirms the development of a sequel...

Ignition Entertainment today confirmed the development of a sequel to one of the most addictive PSP titles around, in the shape of Mercury Meltdown, due for release in September 2006.

Promising to expand massively on the unique experience presented in Archer Maclean's Mercury (though Mr Maclean has long since left the employment of Ignition), Meltdown once again provides a compelling take on the arcade classic Marble Madness with a cell-shaded makeover, as players guide the blob around various obstacles and hazards to reach the end goal. The blob itself has had an overhaul for Meltdown, appearing in four different states throughout the game - Normal, Solid, Fast and Slow - which allow for more complex levels.

With over 160 levels on offer and with the new option of downloadable content via www.yourpsp.com, Mercury Meltdown also introduces a Wi-Fi two-player mode with five different multiplayer mini-games.

"For Mercury Meltdown, we have listened to the feedback received from the first title and have also added many new additional ideas", says Vijay Chadha, Managing Director, Ignition Entertainment Ltd, "While remaining true to the first game, Mercury Meltdown has a more accessible look and feel designed to appeal to everyone."

Look out for more on the return of Mercury Meltdown soon.
