Despite being hailed widely as the GameCubeâ first AAA title, Super Mario Sunshine has been knocked off the UK All Format top spot after just one week by Eidosâ Hitman 2.
Weekly sales figures also reported that the return of the plumber didnât set GameCube sales as many had believed. Nintendo sold 6,104 units last week compared to 5,860 previously. However in the same week Xbox also saw an increase, rising from 5,591 to 6,083.
This must be worrying for Nintendo, who must have counted on Super Mario Sunshine shifting the machine. Perhaps a stronger advertising campaign and perhaps sending out review copies might be more helpful next timeâ¦
