Romero's City of the Dead the highlight of Hip Interactive's E3 line-up
Hip Interactive has today unveiled its line-up for E3 with most of the attention fixed on the companyâs forthcoming zombie game âGeorge A. Romeroâs City of the Deadâ, which is set for release in Q1 2006 on PlayStation2, Xbox, and PC. A first-person shooter, the game takes place on the island of Ningun Futuro (which after much research on our part means âNo Futureâ in Spanish) where a hidden military base is free to carry out weapon tests on dead bodies, and when those remains begin to rise, the head pathologist Dr. Rocane at the facility couldnât be happier.
Also making an appearance at E3 will be the survival-horror game Call of Cthulhu: Destinyâs End that follows two characters as they navigate their way through the ruined town of Innsmouth, which was subject to a government raid in 1928 and left to crumble. Destinyâs End is set for a multi-format release in Summer 2006.
As well those two titles, Hip will also be showcasing an RTS title for the PC tentatively called Ghost Wars, which is set in the middle of a global terrorist conflict that follows a small band of US troops that make a shocking discovery as they try to contain and control the situation. The game is set for a Q1 2006 release, and itâll be interesting to see what it brings to the stagnant RTS market.
Finally Hip will be showing itâs European exclusive title, Rugby Challenge 2006 which is sure to be a direct attempt by Hip to undermine EAâs own Rugby franchise. Developed by Swordfish Studios who previously developed the acclaimed Jonah Lomu Rugby game, RC2006 is set to include all of the rules changes implemented in the forthcoming season.
Announcing the line-up Arindra Singh, President & Chief Executive Officer of Hip Interactive said, âE3 2005 will be the beginning on a new era for Hipâ¦With a stellar line-up of new acquisitions and internal franchises, we are looking forward to presenting our most high-profile line-up ever."
Hip certainly seem to have all of the main genres covered at the event, weâll have more on them next week...
