US online publication reports that Master Chief may return in time for Easter next year...
A fortnight after reports emerged of Bungie supposedly working on a Halo: Forerunners title, something which remains in the land of rumour and speculation, online publication IGN has today posted an article suggesting that Halo 3 will be released in March 2007.
Obviously this has yet to be confirmed or denied by Microsoft and/or Bungie (expect the "...does not comment on rumour" line soon enough), but the report does cite two sources that both state that the return of Master Chief will occur during March of next year - and that video footage would be shown at this year's E3.
There's no doubt that Master Chief will return, but with Microsoft retracting Bill Gates' comments from last year on a number of occasions, and the movie set for a summer 2007 release, the answer to exactly 'when' remains elusive for now.
