Activision confirms over $115 million sales of the rocking third instalment...


Activision has today confirmed that Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock has earned over $115 million in sales across North America in the first seven days of release.

Due to arrive in Europe from November 23th, Legends of Rock is the first instalment produced by Tony Hawk's developer Neversoft, and features tracks from the likes of Tenacious D, Pearl Jam, and The Rolling Stones. Activision has also been quick off the mark with supporting the title with Downloadable Content; the first pack entitled 'The Interscope Pack' launched alongside the release of Guitar Hero III exclusively on Xbox 360, and features tracks from Marilyn Manson, AFI, and Flyleaf.

"Guitar Hero III is the game that everyone is talking about. It is the only video game to make the Toys "R" Us Hot Toy list for 2007 and Toy Wishes' Hot Dozen 2007, which forecast the most popular holiday gifts of the season. Despite having significantly increased our production capabilities for the holiday, there is still a high likelihood that we will not be able to meet demand for this game on every platform," stated Robert Kotick, Chairman and CEO, Activision, Inc.

Additional packs are scheduled for release during the course of the month, with Leaderboards yesterday identifying potential DLC from Foo Fighters and Velvet Revolver.

will they eva re release the other guitar hero's for the wii format?? Legends of Rock is good, but would like to try some others. What about a Guns n Roses one or Iron Maiden, the posibilities are endless, nirvana, chillie peppers, etc etc etc blah ... [ Read full comment... ]
