Goldeneye 2 Confirmed News

EA officially confirms the existence of Goldeneye 2...

Itâs been the constant source of rumour and forum chatter, however EA today officially confirmed that a sequel to the N64 classic âGoldeneyeâ is currently in development â“ however itâs not entirely what most people would expect.

Currently in the hands of the EALA Studio, âGoldeneye 2â is in development for a variety of unspecified platforms; whilst a Christmas 2004 release date has been suggested.

Bearing only the name as any similarity to the Rare developed original, âGoldeneye 2â sees players becoming the ultimate villain in the Bond universe.

Described as an agent who was originally going to join the M16, but was thrown away on the grounds of being reckless and out of control; he has since joined the ranks of an evil syndicate known as the Auric Goldfinger.

âGoldeneye 2â has been in development for over a year and work is claimed to be well on track for its scheduled release; EA are promising a completely different experience to previous Bond offerings, making it possible to explore the âdark sideâ of Bond.

Whilst weâre naturally intrigued to say the least, it has to be said that EA must treat this one with a bit of caution; âGoldeneyeâ is a cult-classic and has built up a legion of fanatical support, the mere suggestion that âGoldeneyeâ was only going to be used for the name sent forums ablaze when the rumour first surfaced a few weeks ago. Still having enjoyed the recent appearance of Bond in âJames Bond 0007: Everything or Nothingâ weâve got every confidence that EA will give it a good attempt; weâre expecting more details soon.
