Random theft leads to the early release of Gates of Troy…
Fans of Slitherine Studios may recall last monthâs shock news that the master copy of Gates of Troy â“ the forthcoming stand alone expansion pack for Spartan â“ was stolen on a routine post patrol.
However in a bizarre set of circumstances the theft has led to the game being shipped two weeks in advance of its original release date. As it stands, it appears that the theft was just coincidental and not specifically aimed at obtaining the title, as the Royal Mail confirmed that two other post vans were targeted in the attack.
Itâs claimed that the original master copy was hand delivered to the duplicators; however the proof copies were dispatched back to Slitherine Studios via Royal Mail and subsequently stolen during the attack.
Because of the mistake from the duplication plant, the firm raised Gates of Troy to the top of its production list and the end result is that Slitherine Studios received the final copy two weeks ahead of schedule.
By a strange twist of fate, a random robbery has ended up with Gates of Troy out 2 weeks early. You don't hear about games shipping early very often in the games industry. It's a strange old world.
