We're still not too sure when the game will be released but we've got new screens...
New screens from the game that has suffered more delays then anyone can remember, found their way to us today; yep thatās right new screens from Galleon, hopefully due for release before the end of the year on Xbox and GameCube.
Itās highly likely that most people will have forgotten about the latest title from the guy who gave us Lara Croft. A short recap ā“ Galleon is an action/adventure title that has been in development for aeons (originally for the Dreamcast) and features a refined gameplay system that deserves recognition. Realising Coreās intention to release mindless Tomb Raider sequels year-after-year, Toby Guard left after the release of the first Tomb Raider and formed his own development studio ā“ Confounding Factor ā“ based just down the road in Bristol.
Galleon is their first title and features a refined control system that eradicates all of the frustrations and the stiff-nature usually associated with titles in this genre. Whilst the visual quality has suffered because of the lengthy development time, the stunning animation should draw this above its technical merits.
Although lengthy development has had its effect on Galleonās release, it hasnāt been helped by the financial situation surrounding its publisher Interplay and parent company Titus. Video-game nuts will know that Virgin Interactive (a subsidiary of Titus) have recently gone into receivership; Titus wish to sell off Interplay to recoup the huge losses accrued by Virgin Interactive, however itās all looking very shaky at the moment, which canāt help the release of Galleon ā“ do they have the resources to publish this game, or will it simply find itself to the market without any form of promotion or marketing?
