Still not out, but still alive it seems, some new images from this platformer that we've been anticipating for what feels like years...
Developed in Bristol, which we nestle on the outskirts of, Confounding Factor's 'Galleon' has been in development for quite some time. We're interested in this title because of one of the men behind it, Toby Gard, who had an important role to play in creating the original - and in our opinion, the best - 'Tomb Raider' game, before leaving Core Design soon after.
Some of the animation techniques as well as level design are the sorts of thing that we wished the 'Tomb Raider' games had done, particularly the smooth transitions between animations and context sensitivity, making it easy to climb up cliffs, jump from platform to platform and across huge gaps.
'Galleon' has been in development so long that it may look a little dated in these screens, but think of it as stylised and all should be okay. When you see it in motion, with Rhama smoothly clambering all over the huge environments you realise that this is a technically impressive game, and all about the controls. You can find out more about 'Galleon' in our preview.
It seems that 'Galleon' is finally on course for release in the last quarter of the year on Xbox, a GameCube version will follow early next year, with PlayStation 2 and PC still unconfirmed.
