Swimming, hurricanes, helicopters and much more in the forthcoming sequel...
Rockstar Games have been keeping characteristically quiet on the return of GTA to the PSP, with the release of GTA: Vice City Stories; however, it appears the controversial publisher will shortly make an official comment, as the first specific details have appeared on the net via an exclusive interview in the Australian GamePro magazine.
Set in 1984 (two years before Vice City), players take control of Victor Vance, a 28 year-old US Marine and the brother of Lance Vance, before his early demise in GTA: Vice City. Like Liberty City Stories before it, the slight time difference will result in a slightly different Vice City this time around, with new buildings and locations such as the Ocean Beach theme park complete with a working Ferris Wheel!
The first details suggest a larger game world than that featured in Vice City, along with a vast number of new ideas and improvements. Players should be able to swim in the game, and take control of new vehicles such as Jet-Skis and the return of helicopters. Intriguingly the interview also points at new weather effects for the series, making mention of hurricanes that now feature in the game.
Thankfully the article suggests that Rockstar Leeds and Rockstar North are adding depth to the missions featured in GTA: Vice City Stories, to ensure there are fewer monotonous "A-B" objectives. With GTA: Liberty City Stories under their belt, Rockstar Leeds have put the PSP to the test, resulting in a number of technical improvements. GTA: Vice City Stories will feature improved animations compared to its predecessor, along with shorter load times, improved draw distances and an increase in pedestrians, cars and other objects.
Multiplayer will once again feature and provide a similar line-up of modes to GTA: Liberty City Stories, though specifics on this aspect are still being kept a closely guarded secret - for now.
Look out for more on GTA: Vice City Stories soon.
