An individual takes RockStar to court alleging that DMA stole his design for the hugely popular GTA series…
It seems as though RockStar and parent company Take-Two Interactive have been hitting the news quite frequently this Christmas period; the latest comes from an individual claiming that RockStar North or DMA Design stole his designs for use in the âGrand Theft Autoâ series.
Mark Gallagher alleges that the plot, look, structure and style of the game closely resembles an idea he had developed several years before the release of âGrand Theft Autoâ.
Gallagher claims that in December 1993 he applied for a position at DMA Design, and that part of the interview process he was asked to show an example of his practical ability. He claims that he showed the team a demonstration of a title he had been working on named âCrime Inc.â.
Gallagher claims that DMA had access to this before the release of âGrand Theft Autoâ in 1997, and has taken legal action against the Scottish based developer and US publishing giant and is demanding damages for the action.
A hearing was due to go ahead on Thursday, however lawyers for both sides sought a continuation, which the judge granted; weâll have more news on the situation soon.
