Following on from Half Life 2, Doom3 and Halo 2, San Andreas finds its way to the net…
Rumours that GTA: San Andreas has been leaked onto the net a week ahead of its release were today confirmed, with an official comment from RockStar stating that downloading, possession or distribution of the illegal copy will be taken as theft, and that they will continue to âdiligently and aggressivelyâ pursue the matter.
This is however only the latest high profile title to be leaked ahead of release, in a year that also witnessed Doom3, Halo2 and Half Life 2 being distributed across the net before being released.
The true story however is that virtually any videogame can be found on the net ahead of its release, and not just high-profile titles such as those listed above, itâs only when the knowledge spills across into the mainstream that it constitutes a âleakâ.
Certainly piracy is rife within the industry at the moment, although thankfully those with such knowledge and access to the various sources are small compared to the number of people legitimately waiting and buying their copies upon release.
