Variety reporter reveals how close we came to seeing Eminem in GTA: The Movie...
A GTA movie came close to production according to a blog post from Variety videogame reporter Ben Fritz.
Within the article, Fritz suggests that a previously reluctant Rockstar Games had a change of minds after the boardroom changes that took place at parent company, Take-Two Interactive. Fritz carries on with the suggestion that the agreement was approaching a final handshake with an unannounced movie studio, going so far as mentioning Eminem in the starring role.
Something happened at the 11th hour, however, to which Fritz cannot provide any further deals. Whether the agreement collapsed over financial issues or Rockstar's notoriously strong grasp over the GTA franchise remains unknown. There is the suggestion however, much like the Halo movie, that there could still be a flicker of light for the project.
Still, when gargantuan brands such as GTA and Halo struggle to get off the ground, you have to ask whether or not videogame-movie adaptations will ever work?

besides that rockstar need to patch the ps3 version as you can use cheats in multiplayer games (not a very sporting game).
