The rumour mill is a-buzz with suggestions that Guitar Hero IV will feature user created songs...
According to rumours, Guitar Hero IV will feature a Create a Song mode that will allow players to upload their compositions for others to rate. Guitar Hero fans will also be able to name their masterpieces and create album art for them.
These rumours have surfaced on NeoGaf, where the content of the latest Game Informer has supposedly been spilled early. This new Create a Song feature will allow gamers to initially upload up to five compositions. Depending on user ratings, song creators will then be able to upload 10 or more of their own tracks to GH Tunes.
While this song sharing feature will apparently be most prominent on the Xbox 360 and PS3 formats, it will also be included in the PS2 and Wii versions as well but in a less robust form. Additionally, created songs are unlikely to feature vocal parts due to licensing and storage issues.
Also included in the spilled details was more info on the additional instruments in the game. It seems that there will be drums and vocals in Guitar Hero IV, which is something that Activision's CEO, Robert Kotick, has hinted at very strongly in the past.
Further details suggest that all the tunes on GH4 will be master tracks, while bands for the song list in the game will include Van Halen, The Eagles, Linkin Park, and Sublime.
As for GH4's peripheral, RedOctane has apparently told Game Informer that there will be a new input mechanic that will "impact the way you play GH in future". The rumours suggest that see-through notes on the GH fretboard (spotted by the GI team) will be part of this input mechanic, which Neversoft is currently trying to patent.
