SEGA, Ubisoft and Epic support the world’s first Physics Processing Unit and middleware solution for next-gen development...
AGEIA Technologies Inc. has been busily flaunting its PhysX chip at the Game Developers Conerenceâ05, described as the worldâs first hardware Physics Processing Unit (PPU), which rapidly increases the extent to which real-time physics can be used within PC titles.
Having recently confirmed the support of Epic Games and the integration of AGEIAâs NovodeX Physics SDK within the forthcoming Unreal Engine 3.0, the semiconductor company today confirmed that it has entered into agreements with both SEGA and Ubisoft.
The technology will facilitate the dramatic use of physics for a variety of effects such as expositions, fluids, clothing and particles, while making outrageous claims about the development of 100% physically driven game characters.
Suited for the next-generation demands and the increasing use of physics within videogame worlds, the PhysX chip and NovodeX SDK crucially boasts cross-platform solutions and the platform for gaming opportunities that we are only on the verge of imagining.
